Course Description: Home Based Care

SEPT/2025/LS/7200 – Home Based Care is a course unit designed to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to provide quality care and support to individuals receiving treatment and assistance within their homes. The course focuses on promoting physical, emotional, social, and psychological well-being of patients, especially the elderly, chronically ill, disabled, and terminally ill individuals.

Learners will gain practical understanding of personal hygiene, nutrition, infection prevention and control, communication skills, medication support, patient safety, record keeping, and basic first aid within a home care setting. The unit also emphasizes ethical practices, confidentiality, teamwork, and community involvement in delivering compassionate and patient-centered care.

The course prepares learners to effectively support families and communities in improving health outcomes through safe, respectful, and professional home-based care services.
